Following the concession of Chisinau International Airport, the state budget will accumulate over 15 billion lei, due taxes and cash flow, said during hearings the Deputy Minister of Economy and Commerce Tudor Copaci. He mentioned that in addition to this, Moldova will benefit from huge investments, the airport will be modernized and more low-cost airlines will operate flights.<\/p>\n

The first benefit of the concession is to attract investments of over 245 million euro, to improve airport’s infrastructure, public service delivery, to ensure flight and passenger safety, Tudor Copaci said.
\nIn addition, there will be tax revenue because the concessionaire does not benefit from tax breaks. He is obliged to pay all taxes to the state and a percentage of sales, Deputy Minister mentioned.<\/p>\n

According to the concessionaire’s business plan, only royalties (which will be 1% of the total sales) will constitute over a billion lei for the concession period.<\/p>\n

"If referring to taxes, the calculations show that the state will receive more than 3 billion lei. An analysis of the economic and financial situation and cash flow, shows that during the concession period the government will accumulate to the national budget more than 15 billion lei, which means 250 million lei annually ", Tudor Copaci said.
\nThe concessionaire is expected to increase the number of employees from 650 to 1800.<\/p>\n

Due to the concession and huge investments in infrastructure and in the quality of service, low- cost companies will enter the market. Chisinau Airport will be used as a transit airport. Sales within the airport will increase. "We would like this regional airport to transform into a regional hub. For low cost companies the most important is the number of passengers, the more passengers in transit, the more low cost companies. If one million passengers spent 50 euro each in the airport, we have 50 million euro annually, a sum which remains at local businesses. If every person from Russia would buy a bottle of wine, we have a million bottles of wine exported. It is an opportunity to promote national culture and traditions”, the Deputy Minister of Economy declared.<\/p>\n

He said that the first results will be visible just over two years, as the concessionaire company has committed to invest over 45 million euro to repair the tarmac.
