Romania-Moldova joint pipeline will cost seven million Euro. The project will be financed by the European Union, the Management Authority for Joint Programs Romania-Moldova-Ukraine 2007-2013 and the National Agency for Mineral Resources in Romania.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Moldova will receive three million Euro for the establishment of the new natural gas network.<\/p>\n

The pipeline construction will begin on August 27 when Moldovan and Romanian Premiers will launch the project. The task is expected to be finalized by the end of 2013. Romanian President Traian Basescu promised that Moldova will receive natural gas via the new pipeline starting from the winter of 2014.<\/p>\n

The new pipeline is important for Moldova given that it will help diversify the country’s energy sources and not rely anymore only on Russian natural gas. Moldova imports 100% of gas from Russia.<\/p>\n

Experts forecast that the Romanian-Moldovan pipeline will supply with 1.5 billion cubic meters per year.<\/p>\n

“It will also deprive Moscow of valuable leverage it has sought to use both in the conflict-resolution process and in the broader effort to dissuade Chi\u0219in\u0103u from choosing a Euro-Atlantic foreign policy orientation rather than the so-called “Eurasian vector” that would bring the country closer to Russia,” said Emmet Tuohy<\/a>, expert in energy policy at International Centre for Defense Studies based in Tallinn, Estonia.  <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
