Moldova has registered a good performance in terms of spending EU funds. It has among the highest rates of disbursement of EU assistance based on results, said EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighborhood Policy, Stefan Füle in an interview with Moldova.ORG<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The European official said that, according to the EU terminology, that this high rate “indicates good performance.”<\/p>\n

“Budget support operations, which represent 70% of our bilateral assistance and consist in transferring grant money to the Moldovan State budget against the achievement of agreed benchmarks, have achieved excellent results – between 86% and 99.9% depending on the programme,” Stefan Füle said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the highest rate of success was registered during 2008 – 2011. The money was spent on reforms that focused on the social assistance system. Furthermore, the Commissioner said that the EU is “satisfied with the implementation of the programmes that support energy sector reform and rural development projects.”<\/p>\n

The European Union is the largest donor in the Republic of Moldova. Some 550 million Euro have been delivered to Moldova during 2010-2013.<\/p>\n
