The World Bank has decided to provide Moldova a loan of $ 10 million for emergency assistance project for agriculture. The money will be used to alleviate last year drought consequences.<\/p>\n

In a press release, the institution states that the project aims to recover wheat and corn production and to prevent the decrease of livestock number in affected districts.<\/p>\n

According to World Bank representatives, the project will provide financial support to farmers in the most affected regions of the country for the 2012 autumn wheat campaign and 2013 spring maize.<\/p>\n

Moldova.ORG notes that last year’s drought caused damage of nearly three billion lei and agricultural output fell by over 22 percent.
