Ukraine’s AeroSvit airline is experiencing financial difficulties. Part of their flights were ceased in order to reduce the operation costs starting from December 28. Therefore, some passengers are being diverted on other flights or are being offered a refund.<\/p>\n

The airline explains that its cancellations are “due to commercial reasons.” However, the Ukrainian carrier cancelled some flights to airports which said the airline has huge debts.<\/p>\n

The airline initiated bankruptcy proceedings. The media reports that if AeroSvit survives the financial trouble, it will become a domestic carrier, whereas Ukraine International Airlines (UIA) will be fully advantaged, as it takes over AeroSvit’s entire network.
\nAs of end of December 2012, the carrier has a huge debt to its creditors, the amount rising up to 403 million Euro.<\/p>\n

According to a press release, AeroSvit will continue to operate long-haul routes to Beijing, New York, Ho Chi Minh City, Bangkok and Goa.<\/p>\n

Hungary’s Wizz Air announced it will inject 14 new flights on Budapest-Kiev route in February and March due to a higher demand after AeroSvit was forced to cease its services. Some 2,500 seats will be available for this route.<\/p>\n
