The snow storm that hit Moldova on Wednesday cancelled some flights arriving to and departing from Chisinau International Airport (KIV). The Chisinau-Munich flight operated by Lufthansa was cancelled because the aircraft coming from Germany was diverted to Bucharest. Therefore, the passengers departing from Moldova were affected.<\/p>\n

As a Lufthansa official reported, many passengers were rebooked onto flights operated by other airlines. However, not all could be given a seat to depart from Chisinau.<\/p>\n

Most of the passengers remaining in KIV were rebooked for the flight departing on Thursday. The airline officials said a larger aircraft was sent in order to deal with the passengers remaining on the ground.<\/p>\n

“Our operations department has deployed a larger aircraft than usual in order for all passengers to be transported,” a Lufthansa spokesperson told Moldova.ORG.<\/p>\n

Those staying overnight in Chisinau were given accommodation and meal vouchers paid by the airline.<\/p>\n

However, not every airline is treating their passengers appropriately. Carrier Air Moldova kept their passengers stranded at Verona Airport for almost three days during the New Year holidays. Although the passengers were offered hotel accommodation, they were not told the exact time of their departure. The airline’s explanation of the flight cancellation was that there was a “technical issue” with the aircraft.<\/p>\n

The plane, carrying some 100 Moldovan citizens landed in Chisinau on the 1st of January, instead of December 30 as scheduled. Some passengers tried to reach the airline representatives, but no concrete answers could be gained.<\/p>\n

Ukraine’s Aerosvit Airlines also cancelled a flight to Chisinau on Wednesday without any additional information. The representatives of the airline could not be reached for comments. <\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
