Italy has invested more than 120 million Euro in companies and concerns headquartered in Moldova. The total amount of Italian companies goes up to 512, an important number for Moldova, which is among the smallest in Europe.<\/p>\n

Italy’s “Taddei Engineering” company will open soon a cement and metal factory in the Free Economic Zone in Moldova’s northern city of Balti. The investment raises to 15 million Euro.<\/p>\n

Being in Milan for a Moldovan-Italian economic forum, Moldovan Minister of Economy Valeriu Lazar presented the investment opportunities in his country and invited the Italian investors to develop projects in energy efficiency and renewable energy sectors. He emphasized the need to attract investments as a way to develop the economy of the country.<\/p>\n

“Moldova needs investments to continue to develop infrastructure and private business, factors necessary for refreshing the industry,” Valeriu Lazar said.<\/p>\n

Italy is not only a significant contributor with investments in Moldova, but also a top export destination. The National Bureau of Statistics shows that Italy is Moldova’s third main export country after Russia and Romania, summing up $145,1 million during January-August 2012.
