After Russia has been a partly neglected by Moldova, the former soviet republic’s Prime Minister Vlad Filat is paying a three-day visit (September 10-12) to the Russian Federation in hope to strengthen the economic relations between the two states. As the press office of Kremlin informed, Moldovan Premier will meet with the Russian President Vladimir Putin. They are about to hold talks on “the Russian-Moldovan political cooperation, trade-economical issues, the culture-humanitarian concerns, as well as the interaction within the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS).”<\/p>\n

In an interview with Russia’s ITAR-TASS news agency, Vlad Filat said that in a short period of time will be ratified the Agreement on Free Trade Area within the CIS, a project which will ease the trade between the former soviet states. At the same time, the head of the Moldovan Government said that his country is interested in expanding the wine, vegetables and meat export to the Russian market.<\/p>\n

“We invite the Russians to invest in agriculture, energy and other areas,” said Vlad Filat. “Our Government will never give false promises to the Russian investors as happened before.”<\/p>\n

The Transnistrian conflict resolution is another topic on Mr. Filat’s agenda, although he won’t bring anything new to Moscow. He said that he is about to emphasize the strong and frank position Moldova has in regard with the Transnistrian conflict. This means, Russia is asked to withdraw their army and munitions from the Moldovan Eastern region of Transnistria.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat will meet also with his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev and will participate at the Day of Moldovan Culture in Russia.
