Moldovan Ministry of Economy denied the allegations of the head of the Central Bank Dorin Dragutan who said that Moldova is likely to fall into recession. As Infotag news agency reports, the economy could only undergo a slackening of the rates of economic growth.<\/p>\n

"If the economic growth stands at 2 – 2.5% in the second quarter of 2012, the annual forecast of the Ministry of Economy will remain the same – 3%. In this case, there will be no serious grounds for changing the last forecast. In the contrary case, the forecast economic growth will stand at 1 – 1.5%," an official working for the Ministry of Economy told the agency. "An economic recession is likely only in the case of the zero or negative balance of the GDP growth, recorded during a period of at least six months."<\/p>\n

The Ministry of Economy will issue a new GDP forecast in mid-September.<\/p>\n

According to the forecasts of the Ministry of Economy and of the International Monetary Fund, in 2012, Moldova’s Gross Domestic Product is supposed to grow by 3%. The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) decreased the forecast to 2.5%.
