The political dialogue between Moldova and the European Union on Foreign Relations was recently held in Brussels. The Moldovan delegation was led by Deputy Foreign and European Integration Minister Natalia Gherman, while the European team was led by the acting director for Eastern Europe, Southern Caucasus, and Central Asia, in the Commission’s Directorate-General for External Relations, Gunnar Wiegand, Moldpres news agency reports, quoting Ministerial sources.<\/p>\n

The main topic discussed was the latest developments in Moldova, especially on the Moldovan-EU track, as well as the Transnistrian conflict.<\/p>\n

Natalia Gherman presented all the actions undertaken in Moldova in terms of reform implementation. From the other side, Gunnar Wiegand, the head of the EU delegation, praised the positive dynamics of the undertaken actions and urged the Moldovan authorities to continue the reforms initiated.<\/p>\n

The officials prepared the agenda of a joint meeting which is due to be held on June 26, 2012.<\/p>\n

“The sides noted that one of the key-objectives of the Cooperation Council’s meeting is the adoption of a decision on the shift to the second stage in the implementation of the Visa Liberalization plan,” Moldpres reports.<\/p>\n

The Common Aviation Area was another subject discussed at the meeting. According to the participants, the agreement will be signed until the Cooperation Council’s meeting.<\/p>\n

“The sides expressed confidence that an agreement on Moldova’s accession to the European Common Aviation Area, amendments to the agreement of the facilitation of the visa regime, an agreement in the field of geographical indexes, as well as an administrative accord in the civil protection field would be signed until the Cooperation Council’s meeting,” the source informs.
