The price of Russian gas exported to Moldova will be by 3-4 dollars lower in the second quarter of the year, informs Moldpres. Russia’s Gazprom gas provider will ask a price of $385 for 1,000 cubic meters, Moldovan Deputy Prime Minister, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar said, cited by the Moldovan news agency.<\/p>\n

According to the source, the Minister said that the management board of the Moldovan-Russian joint venture Moldovagaz will hold a meeting in Moscow on March 28, 2012 to sign a document in order to extend the gas supply contract with Moldova for another three months. The old contract expired in December of the last year.<\/p>\n

Mr. Lazar stated that “due to this, the gas consumers will benefit from gas for another three months. Meanwhile, the authorities will continue negotiations in two directions,” reports Moldpres.<\/p>\n

The statesman emphasized that the new contract will be signed only when the situation regarding the gas supply for the Transnistrian residents is clarified.<\/p>\n

"The situation when the debts are accumulated by the national gas operator Moldovagaz and the money paid by the Transnistrian consumers are amassed on some banking accounts in Tiraspol, is not normal," Mr. Lazar said.
