The World Bank gave US$880 million in financial aid to Moldova during the past 20 years, Info-Prim Neo news agency informs.<\/p>\n

During a meeting of the Moldovan Premier Vlad Filat with the World Bank’s President for Europe and Central Asia Philippe Le Houerou, the counterparts discussed about the most important developments of the relations between sides.<\/p>\n

According to the source, the Moldovan Prime Minister said that the World Bank is one of the most important development partners of Moldova and the bilateral cooperation focuses on such important areas as education of a high quality, social assistance, investments in agriculture, energy, road building, public finance management, and the reform of the public administration.<\/p>\n

“The World Bank’s current portfolio for Moldova includes 11 active projects with a total commitment of US$281 million,” reports Info-Prim Neo.<\/p>\n

Vlad Filat said that the projects implemented with the support from the great financial institution are carried out successfully.<\/p>\n

“The priorities for the next period include energy efficiency, investments in the rural infrastructure and the reform of the local and central public administration,” writes the same source.<\/p>\n

Philippe Le Houerou emphasized that the reforms are a durable process that cannot be stopped at half way. He also said that the World Bank will support Moldova on this path.
