Moldova’s currency reserve assets have hit a new historical record of 1.823.2 billion dollars, according to data put out by the National Bank of Moldova.<\/p>\n

The historical record of 1.803.9 billion dollars was recorded on 30 September 2008. The subsequent massive intervention of the central bank on the currency market, aimed at decreasing the Moldovan leu’s exchange rate, led to a significant reduction in the currency reserves, that fall below 1.2 billion in 2009.<\/p>\n

The National Bank of Moldova (BNM) has said that the currency reserves have increased by almost 105 million dollars, or 6.1 per cent since early 2011. The highest increase in 2011 was recorded in March, when the figure soared by 53.63 million dollars, reaching 1.793.44 billion dollars in late March.<\/p>\n

The increase took place following the consolidation of other currencies against the US dollar, the banks net afferent flows of mandatory reserves in foreign currency, revenues from currency reserves’ management, as well as other revenues.<\/p>\n

In 2010, Moldova’s currency reserves hiked by 237.4 million dollars, up to 1.717.69 billion dollars in late December 2010. It was the highest value recorded at the end of the year, beating the authorities’ and analysts’ expectations.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
