\nA working meeting focused on the alarming situation at the RED-Nord electricity distribution networks was held at the Economics Ministry on 28 February.<\/p>\n

According to the ministry’s public relations department, Deputy Economics Minister, Ilarion Popa, asked that all the efforts should be taken to secure the reliability of the electricity provider, stressing that the actions that jeopardize the functioning of the RED-Nord company are inadmissible especially now, when the government aims at implementing essential reforms in the energy sector. Such actions not only endanger the electricity provision of over 300,000 consumers, but also affect the state’s energy security, the deputy minister stressed.<\/p>\n

As a stockholder of the RED-Nord company, the Economics Minister demanded that the Moldovan government, the relevant ministries, the Prosecutor’s General Office and the Superior Council of Magistrates should involve in order to overcome the situation in which a joint stock company with state assets undergoes a suspicious trial and is threatened by the actions of a private executor.<\/p>\n

The participants in the meeting noted that the present situation at the RED-Nord company was triggered by some suspicious rulings issued jointly with the judiciary executor and with the initiator of the trial, stressing that the company had been subjected to a rider attack. Presently, all the recourse ways had been used. Thus, only a strong opposition of the state’s relevant bodies can put an end to the illegal actions towards the RED-Nord company.<\/p>\n

In the context, Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar asked the premier that the governmental commission should be summoned as soon as possible, in order to improve the situation in the energy sector.<\/p>\n

On 17 February 2011, the accounts of the RED-Nord company were frozen, following a request of the judiciary executor in the trial with the Ukrainian Energoalians limited liability company, issued in 2001. The executor has put an embargo on the accounts of the enterprise in order to receive interest rates calculated at a 20-million-lei debt of the RED-Nord company. Yet, the requested interest rates were calculated on the basis of the first ruling, issued 11 years ago, and not on the basis of the one issued on 2 July 2010, when the stipulations of the Article 24 of the Execution Code entered into force.<\/p>\n

Thus, the sum requested by the judiciary executor, on behalf of the lender, is immeasurable in comparison with the debt on which it was calculated, exceeding it twice, the Economics Ministry’s public relations department has said.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
