\nPrime Minister Vlad Filat chaired a meeting of the committee supervising the water supply and sewerage section of the Budgetary Support Programme (BSP) on 18 February, the government s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

The participants in the meeting discussed the way the BSP s has been implemented in terms of water supply and sewerage, available financial resources, as well as the development of the pilot project of providing Nisporeni district with drinking water and sewerage.<\/p>\n

The BSP budget stands at 45 million euros, of which 37 million euros is used as budgetary support. The programme is backed by the European Commission and the proceeds will be given in three instalments. The BSP started being implemented in late 2009.<\/p>\n

The BSP s goal is to back Moldova to meet the middle-term objectives envisaged in the strategy of ensuring Moldovan settlements with water and sewerage. The document was worked out in 2007.<\/p>\n

Environment Minister Gheorghe Salaru, said that the ministry will mobilize all its efforts to implement the remaining indices so that all the indexes of the matrix of policies are fulfilled before the second 11-million-euro instalment is disbursed.<\/p>\n

Finance Minister Veaceslav Negruta said that over 170 million lei (over 10 million euros) will be allocated from the state budget and external projects in 2011 to supply the Moldovan settlements with water and sewerage. The minister noted that it is very important that Moldova has enough capacities to absorb these proceeds.<\/p>\n

The issue of financial resources for the pilot project implemented in Nisporeni was approached too. The project is implemented due to a 5-million-euro grant and the financing agreement is planned to be signed in March 2011.<\/p>\n

Prime Minister Vlad Filat said that supplying the Moldovan citizens with water and sewerage is one of the government s priorities and asked that no efforts should be spared to carry out projects covering this sector.<\/p>\n

Filat said that the efficient implementation of these projects will benefit the Moldovan citizens and will improve Moldova s image, which will help attract similar projects.<\/p>\n

Filat demanded that the capacities of implementing the existing projects should be assessed so that they are implemented in the planned timeframe.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
