\nThe EU will give Moldova 90 million euros, with an agreement on the matter due to be signed by the European Parliament and the Moldovan authorities these days, Prime Minister Vlad Filat told a news briefing held jointly with European Parliament President Jerzy Buzek in Chisinau.<\/p>\n

Referring to the 28 November parliamentary election, Filat described the activity of the European Parliament’s observers as important. "The conclusions by the European observers showed that this election met the rigours of the OSCE and Council of Europe, as they were managed transparently and impartially. This proves once again that the European Parliament supports the consolidation of the democracy in Moldova, support which was materialized including by an appeal to dialogue between the parliamentary forces to overcome the post-electoral situation."<\/p>\n

Jerzy Buzek confirmed that the election had been free and transparent. "From this viewpoint, Moldova is a model in the EU Eastern Partnership. I came here to convey a message of solidarity from the EU, as Moldova is a European nation, and it should have much closer cooperation with the EU for the sake of both Moldovan and European citizens," he emphasized.<\/p>\n

Buzek specified that the sides were negotiating a visa free regime as well as a free trade agreement that would be to the benefit of Moldovan small and medium-sized enterprises.
