\nPrime Minister Vlad Filat chaired a meeting on Moldova’s preparation for the 2010-2011 cold season, the government’s communications and press relations department has said.<\/p>\n

Attending the meeting were leaders of ministries, local and central public authorities, as well as representatives of energy enterprises.<\/p>\n

The meeting was focused on the level of Moldova’s preparation for the 2010-2011 cold season, from the viewpoint of energy security and the normal functioning of enterprises and social institutions.<\/p>\n

According to the information of the Economics Ministry, the energy sector is fully prepared for the cold season. At the same time, Deputy Economics Minister, Ilarion Popa said that there were some unpaid debts for heating, to the Chisinau City Hall.<\/p>\n

The Agency for Material Reserves reported on its full preparation for the cold season. The agency’s director general, Vasile Pintea, confirmed that the decisions approved by the government and the commission for the alleviation of floods’ consequences, on providing flood victims with wood and coal for heating, had been completely carried out. The resources had been transmitted to the local authorities that were to distribute the aid to the beneficiaries.<\/p>\n

The authorities responsible for security on Moldova’s highways, health care systems, education, environment, management of housing fund have also reported the high level of preparation for the cold season. At the same time, a string of issues that cannot cause major problems in the normal functioning of these systems have been notified.<\/p>\n

The premier pointed out the importance of activities’ coordination and efficient communication between the enterprises and the institutions dealing with Moldova’s energy security.<\/p>\n

Filat asked all decision-makers, including the municipal ones to mobilize in order to carry out a detailed analysis of the situation on the repayment of the debts for heating and to urgently identify solutions. Referring to the problems of the dwelling owners’ associations, Filat said that the normative framework should be reviewed and concrete proposals should be made.<\/p>\n

Moreover, the premier disposed the convocation of a special meeting focused on tariffs on energy resources, with the participation of suppliers, enterprises supplying thermal energy, and representatives of central and local public authorities, that would be held next week.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
