\nSeveral streets in Chisinau will be restored and about 100,000 residents of Moldova’s capital will get access to water and sewerage networks due to a 10-million-dollar loan. The Chisinau city hall and the International Finance Corporation (IFC) signed a contract to this effect these days.<\/p>\n

Chisinau general mayor Dorin Chirtoaca told a news conference that the money will be invested in priority projects aimed at restoring main worn-out aqueducts and sewerage systems in the Centru and Buiucani districts of the capital, as well as in Chisinau suburbs. Also, three streets are to be capitally repaired, and three bus stations are to be constructed.<\/p>\n

Chirtoaca said that all these projects are being elaborated, and tenders for starting the works are to be announced. Each settlement will receive between 2 and 9 million lei in investments, depending on the projects’ needs, the Chisinau mayor stressed.<\/p>\n

The IFC director for South Eastern Europe, Ana-Maria Mihaiescu, said that the works are planned to start next spring. She also said that the investment will enhance access to the infrastructure of water supply and residual and used waters’ management for about 100,000 Chisinau residents.<\/p>\n
