\nThe European Commission (CE) has decided to increase the quotas for Moldova’s key exports to the EU market. Thus, the quota for wines will increase by 80 per cent in 2011.<\/p>\n

Within the Moldova-EU Subcommittee for Trade and Investments, held in Brussels on 11 November, the European Commission announced its decision from 10 November 2010 to increase the tariff quotas for the export of Moldovan wines and cereals to the European Union market.<\/p>\n

The Economics Ministry’s public relations service has said that the decision includes: the extension of the implementation of of the Autonomous Trade Preferences till 2015 and the increase in quotas as follows: for wine – the proposed quota will be 1.5 million decalitres in 2011 or by 80 per cent higher than at present, 1.8 million decalitres in 2012, and 2.4 million decalitres of wine in 2013-15.<\/p>\n

The CE also proposed that the quota of cereals, barley and maize should be increased by 5,000 tons annually. By 2015, the export quota of these goods will reach 50,000 tons. The decision is to be confirmed by the European Union’s Council and the European Parliament.<\/p>\n

The Autonomous Trade Preferences were granted to Moldova on 1 March 2008 to liberalize trade with the EU, ensure pre-requisites for a friendly economic environment and attract investments.
