Russia has rejected the Moldovan Government’s plan for resolving problems with the supply of Moldovan wine to Russia. The statement was made by Gennady Onishenko – the Head of the RosPotrebNadzor [Russian federal supervisory agency for consumer goods quality] and Russia’s Chief Federal Sanitary Inspector.<\/p>\n

"We have analyzed the plan that has been submitted by Moldovan ambassador to Russia Andrei Neguta. We do not accept this document; it can be considered no more than a formal reply," Onishchenko said. He added that the "document shows the inadequacy of the Moldovan government structures responsible for this work. "This is a formal reply to our proposals on how to bring order into this area’, Gennady Onishenko said.<\/p>\n

According to him, the RosPotrebNadzor would seek to resolve the problem of the quality of Moldovan wine with the help of the two countries’ business communities.<\/p>\n

"We are actively cooperating with Russian businesses which deal with Moldovan wine. It is done in order to establish business contacts with representatives of the Moldovan wine industry," the RosPotrebNadzor’s Head said.<\/p>\n

"Ultimately, it is necessary to introduce order to this area in order to provide, among other things, an opportunity for Moldovan wine producers to remain on their traditional market, Russia. All the more so since this agrees with the Russian-government-approved concept for reducing alcohol consumption in Russia through changing the structure of consumption from strong alcoholic drinks to light ones," he continued.<\/p>\n

"Since at this stage we have no trust in meetings and correspondence with Moldovan government structures, we shall invite Moldovan business experts in order to bring the conversation that began to its logical conclusion.
