Prime Minister Vladimir Filat reckons Moldovan exporter companies must continuously work to raise the quality of their products and fix their high quality in corresponding international certificates.<\/p>\n

Speaking on the Moldova-1 public television channel on Wednesday night, he stressed, "I am saying this not only because we have come across the problem of our wine exports to Russia. I am speaking about quality as a whole. We want to export our goods to new markets, so we have been in negotiations on our transition to the regime of free trade with European Union member countries. To reach this objective, it is necessary to guarantee top produce quality and confirm it in documents".<\/p>\n

Premier Filat categorically refused to comment the claims put to Moldovan wines by Gennady Onishenko, Head of RosPotrebNadzor [Russian federal supervisory agency for consumer goods quality] and Russia’s Chief Federal Sanitary Inspector.<\/p>\n

"I shall not comment Mr. Onishenko’s sayings, for this can be done, say, by Moldova’s Chief Sanitary Inspector. And my partner in our dialog with Russia is Prime Minister Vladimir Putin. If need be, I can comment his sayings. But so far, I haven’t heard from him any reprimands to Moldova-made produce", said Vladimir Filat.<\/p>\n

The Premier further said he had met with Putin at the recent CIS economic forum in St. Petersburg, discussed the Moldo-Russian cooperation development with him, and "we agreed to continue the dialog. In the nearest time, one more meeting with Putin shall take place".<\/p>\n

Concerning the withdrawal of Russian troops from Moldova, Filat said he has not yet discussed this question with Putin, but is ready to speak out his position on the issue, if need be. Filat called as "very important and very complicated" the 1992 Agreement on peaceful settlement of the conflict in the Republic of Moldova’s Transnistrian region signed by then-President of Moldova Mircea Snegur and President of Russia Boris Yeltsin precisely 18 years ago – on July 21, 1992.<\/p>\n

"I guess nowadays there are lots of ‘brave men’ who would love to criticize that document and to trumpet that the Agreement has legitimized the Russian troop presence in Moldova. The document was necessary at that moment in order to stop bloodshed.
