Denmark will earmark 4.5 million euros for the development of the private sector in Moldova. The issue was discussed today during a meeting between Economics Minister Valeriu Lazar and a delegation of the Danish Foreign Ministry, according to the Moldovan ministry’s public relations service.<\/p>\n

The Danish delegation said that the decision had been taken after discussions held by the Consultative Group of Donors in Brussels on 24 March 2010.<\/p>\n

The officials said that Denmark was willing to provide support for the development of businesses opened by youth in rural areas.<\/p>\n

In the context, Lazar pointed out the importance to develop small agricultural businesses, but also non-agricultural in Moldova’s rural area.<\/p>\n

Lazar said that one of the main problems faced in this sector was the limited access to finances for business development and the poor quality of entrepreneurial training. He noted that the government had initiated a string of programmes for the private sector which proved to be successful but the development of which was slowed down by poor financing.<\/p>\n

At the end of the meeting, Valeriu Lazar said that the Economics Ministry was open to cooperation with Danish partners and welcomed the Danish government’s willingness to contribute to Moldova’s socioeconomic development.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
