The up-to-date helio-system, which transforms solar energy into electric energy, has been launched in the Melenesti village of the Calaras raion, some 60 km north of Chisinau, capital of the Repubic of Moldova.<\/p>\n

It was installed in the frame of a project of the German Bureau for Technical Cooperation (GTZ) for the purpose to support Moldovan farmers.<\/p>\n

On Friday Project Manager for Moldova \u0421hristoph Weber said at its presentation that this device is profitable for Moldovan farmers, as the republic has a lot of sunny days, whereas the helio-system is absolutely autonomous and will allow the farmers to irrigate their lands with artesian water.<\/p>\n

Local farmer Vitali Zubco, who grows plums, became the owner of this device.<\/p>\n

The helio-system consists of three components, The first one transforms solar energy into electric energy for extracting water from the well and pumping it into special reservoirs. The second pumps water out the reservoirs directly into an irrigation system in a garden. The third component provides the house with electric energy.<\/p>\n

The capacity of the system is 2.4 kWh. The cost of the device is 14 thousand EUR, out of which sum the farmer paid five thousand, the remaining sum was covered by the GTZ.<\/p>\n

The German Bureau for Technical Cooperation’s project "The Modernization of the Moldovan Agricultural Sector" was launched in March 2010 and will last until November 2012. In the frame of the project the GTZ will cover a half of the value of the helio-systems, which are planned to install in the Calaras, Ungheni and Stefan-Voda raions. Besides the helio-systems the GTZ will provide the Moldovan farmers with European plum varieties.
