The Südzucker-Moldova Moldovan-German enterprise will implement a project on using the sugar production wastes (bagasse) for producing energy.<\/p>\n

Representatives of the Ministry of Environment told Infotag that a station for the biological treatment of bagasse and the production of bio-gas and organic fertilizers will be built at the Drochia sugar refinery.<\/p>\n

"Südzucker-Moldova process yearly 300 thousand tons of sugar beet. After the technological treatment 80 thousand tons of wastes in the form of dry bagasse remain. The station will be able to produce yearly 10.3 million cubic meters of bio-gas, which contains 55-70% of methane", experts consider.<\/p>\n

In their opinion, "the project will allow reducing by a half the consumption of energy resources by the enterprise, to lower their self-cost and to create new jobs. The launching of this project will call for 10 million EUR. The investments will be recouped within eight years.<\/p>\n

The Südzucker-Moldova enterprise was set up in 2001 by means of the merge of the Drochia, Falesti and Dondiuseni sugar refineries. Two enterprises (in Drochia and Falesti) manufacture sugar, whereas an up-to-date logistic and packing center was created on the basis of the Alexandreni enterprise. The majority shareholder is Südzucker Holding GMBH (79.11% of shares): 12.37% of shares belong to Moldova-Agroindbank. In 2009 Moldova produced 44 thousand tons of sugar, the major share of this volume was manufactured by Südzucker-Moldova.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
