The Moldovan exporters of alcohol products to Russia cannot get customs clearance for wine and cognacs, because of the introduction of the licensing procedure for these products, which came in force on December 29, 2009. Trucks with Moldovan wines are among the stopped vehicles.<\/p>\n

Deputy Director of the Moldova-vin agency Nicolae Taran told Infotag that this situation is due to the introduction of licenses, which must be issued by the Russian Ministry of Industry and Trade.<\/p>\n

"The ministry learned too late about its new functions and, as a consequence, proved to be unprepared for issuing documents, allowing wine imports to Russia. Economic entities were not informed of the new rules, as well", Taran remarked.<\/p>\n

He could not name the enterprises, whose products were stopped by the Russian customs offices, but suggested that all 35 economic entities, which have the right to export their products to Russia, could have found themselves in this situation.<\/p>\n

In Nicolae Taran’s words, in the best case Moldovan exporters will be able to resume the supply of their products to Russia in February.<\/p>\n

Nicolae Taran associates the introduction of the new license with the coming into effect the Agreement on Setting up the Customs Union between Russia, Kazakhstan and Belarus.<\/p>\n

A number of Moldovan economic entities confirmed that after the winter holidays they were notified by their Russian colleagues of the innovation in the clearance procedure of alcohol products and suspended their supplies.
