Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Valeriu Cosarciuc has spoken out for the Parliament’s approval of measures for protecting local producers. On Friday, he said in the Parliament that the recession in the agrarian sector will constituted 25% in 2009.<\/p>\n

In his words, the sugar beet producers’ situation is very hard; they will suffer losses in the amount of 500 million lei.<\/p>\n

"The winemaking and viticulture situation is also very hard. Because of the ban on the wine exports in bulk, they accumulated 200 million liters of wine, which they want to export in bulk. Besides the winemakers’ debts to the viticulturists reached 1.3 billion lei, to the banks – 2.5 billion lei. These debts were accumulated during several last years and they practically caused the bankruptcy of the wine sector", the minister said.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the measures, taken by the new Government and the Parliament, which cancelled the ban on the wine exports in bulk and the exports of industrial grape varieties.<\/p>\n

"These measures must stimulate the winemakers. We ask to continue taking measures on the economy liberalization and support for producers, Cosarciuc said.<\/p>\n

In his words, it is necessary to limit the imports of foodstuffs, which are produced in Moldova in sufficient volume.<\/p>\n

"The matter is of wheat, bread products and macaroni, meat, canned and dairy products", the minister said.<\/p>\n

He also remarked that the budget organizations owe 37 million lei to food suppliers and their VAT debt to producers accounts for 96 million lei.<\/p>\n
