The volume of money transfers through banks from Moldovan’ physical persons, who work abroad, exceeded US$515.03 million for the first half-year – 31.8% more against the same period of 2008.<\/p>\n

According to the data by the National Bank of Moldova (NBM), US$419.89 million (81.5%) were transferred by means of quick money transfer systems.<\/p>\n

The main share of money transfers or 54.2% fell on the U. S, Dollar, 40.8% – on Euro and 5% – on the Russian ruble.<\/p>\n

According to the optimistic scenario by the Ministry of Economy and Trade, the volume of money transfers in foreign currency in 2009 was the same, as in 2008, when it constituted US$1.66 billion. According to the pessimistic forecast, the money transfers from the countries, where Moldovans work – Russia, Italy, Spain, Portugal, Greece, Turkey had to drop by 30% under the influence of the global financial and economic crisis.<\/p>\n

The historically record-breaking volume of money transfers fell on July 2008, when US$180.79 million were transferred. There are 22 rapid money transfer systems in Moldova. In 2007 the volume of transferred foreign currency constituted about US$1.2 billion and in 2006 – US$855 million.<\/p>\n
