A project on farmlands’ consolidation will be implemented in 40 villages from 21 Moldovan districts during one year. The project aims at improving the structure, as well as the quality of agricultural land plots, and will be financed by the World Bank and the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA).<\/p>\n

Civil servants from 40 mayoralties today signed agreements on the project’s initiation with the Rural Development National Agency (ACSA), in charge of its implementation.<\/p>\n

Project manager Dumitru Savcenco said that, besides the direct tasks, the project is also set to more rationally use the land, and improve the agricultural management. The re-parceling process is voluntary, and the cost of the concerned transactions will be covered from the project’s resources. An average amount of 60,000 lei (about 3,800 euros) is seen to be earmarked for each settlement to this end.<\/p>\n

The project will be implemented till 30 June 2010, and provides for the creation of eight regional consultancy centres on this period.<\/p>\n

Attending the event, Deputy Agriculture and Food Minister Ion Perju specified that the ministry will provide every support to successfully carry out this project, and the practice gained on this period is to be further extended.<\/p>\n

The project that was launched in Chisinau today is a continuation of a pilot project of re-parceling farmlands in six settlements, implemented with the World Bank’s support two years ago. Within this project, the number of parcels dropped from 7,200 to about 5,500 units.
