Investprivatbank, in process of liquidation, was fully purchased by Banca de Economii (BEM) as a single asset, stated Governor of the National Bank, Leonid Talmaci, for the press on Friday night.<\/p>\n

The NBM governor announced that the reimbursement of the deposits opened by Investprivatbank depositors would start on Wednesday, July 1.”The deposits will be reimbursed in all branch offices of former Investprivatbank, and depositors will be entitled to withdraw their money from the accounts or open new deposits at the BEM which owns the assets of the liquidated bank”, specified Talmaci.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he noted that the depositors are to go to the branch offices where their deposits were opened, specifying that the deposits will be fully returned, including the interests.<\/p>\n

Referring to the purchase of the liquidated bank by the BEM, Talmaci stated that Banca de Economii was the only bank to have submitted an application to participate in the tender. The NBM governor specified that Banca de Economii is one of the most important banks in the local banking system and would be able to deal with the situation. “Investprivatbank’s assets amount to 914 mln lei, 3.7% of the assets of the banking system, and the deposits amount to 909 mln lei, including 611 mln belong to natural persons, which is not a very big amount and BEM will be able to return this money to the depositors”, stressed the BNM governor.<\/p>\n

At the same time, he specified that if necessary, the NBM will give Banca de Economii liquidities to honor its obligations before the Investprivatbank depositors.<\/p>\n

On 19 June 2009, the NBM withdrew the activity license of CB Investprivatbank SA, appointing a liquidator. According to the NBM, Investprivatbank was brought to the payment incapacity following a poor management.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
