Overall income of 8.62 billion lei (55.7 million euros) entered the national public budget by 31 May 2009, which makes 8.5 percent less against 2008, according to data by the Finance Ministry. <\/p>\n

Finance Minister Mariana Durlesteanu has said that in January May 2009, spending stood at 10.27 billion lei, which is by 8.2 per cent more against the year before. <\/p>\n

The national public budget registered a deficit of 1,656.4 billion lei in the first five months of 2009. In order to cover the deficit, the government attracted incomes of 433.3 million lei from the sale of state-owned real estate, incomes of 20.9 million lei from the sale and privatization of public goods and proceeds in bank accounts of 622.2 million lei, Durlesteanu said.
