No discussion [with opposition] has been officially held so far, despite repeated appeals by the Party of Communists (PCRM) to start a political dialogue in an enlarged format. <\/p>\n

First Deputy Speaker Vladimir Turcan made a statement to this effect at a TV program. Turcan said that he personally came in touch with the leader of the Liberal Party (PL), Mihai Ghimpu, and urged him to organize a meeting with all the members of the PL faction. <\/p>\n

In response, Ghimpu at the same program said that the PL will not participate in the election of the head of state, as the concerned decision was approved long time before, and can no longer be changed. <\/p>\n

‘Till present, we have had no possibility to discuss with the Our Moldova Alliance (AMN), as the head of the formation, Serafim Urechean, is away on business. We hope that he will return on 2 June, and we will be able to have these discussions with all the members of the AMN faction,’ the first deputy speaker added. <\/p>\n

Asked what the PCRM offers so as to initiate a political dialogue with the opposition parties, Vladimir Turcan stressed that he has repeatedly proposed ‘to take as a basis the Resolution of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe, where all the preconditions submitted by the opposition parties are covered. We can discuss the mechanism, way and periods of fulfilling these conditions. Unfortunately, however, only statements appear in press on certain preconditions, but they did not accept a real dialogue,’ Vladimir Turcan specified. <\/p>\n

The repeated election for the office of head of state will be held on 3 June. <\/p>\n

Acting Prime Minister Zinaida Grecianii and Moldovan Ambassador to Russia Andrei Neguta were nominated for the post of president.
