The Cuchurgan power plant over January-October this year exported electric power to the value of US$38.1 million, up 2.2 times compared with the corresponding period last year. <\/p>\n

According to the Ministry of Reintegration, Cuchurgan plant’s exports made up 4.9% of Transdniestria’s total exports. All the power was exported to Romania. The plant started to sell electric power to Romania in July last year.

\nThe Russian energy company Inter RAO UES and Moldova’s state-owned Moldelectrica last week signed an agreement to separate power units from the Cuchurgan Station and incorporate them into Romania’s energy system. Crossborder supplies to Romania are now limited because the energy systems of Moldova and Romania are in different synchronous zones. <\/p>\n

To solve the problem, it was decided to separate one or several power units from Moldova’s energy system and incorporate them into the Romanian system. Such an approach will make it possible to increase electricity supplies to Romania to 400 megawatt or about 290 million kilowatt\/hour a month. <\/p>\n

Moldavskaya GRES or Cuchurgan plant is a subsidiary company of Inter RAO UES. Installed capacity of the power plant is 2,520 megawatts. With respect to the total installed capacity, the station is the greatest asset of Inter RAO UES Group and one of the most important energy facilities in Europe.
