The families whose lands nearby houses have been inundated can go to the local offices of Banca de Economii to collect compensations. <\/p>\n

Under the decision of the Commission for Assessing the Consequences of Floods, the 10.6 million lei earmarked for the purpose has been already transferred to districts. <\/p>\n

Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry Anatolie Gorodenco said that the mayors will distribute the compensations in the villages where Banca de Economii does not have branches. <\/p>\n

About 5,880 families from 88 settlements will benefit from compensations of about 2,000 lei. The families that have large plots of land near the houses will receive up to 6,000 lei. <\/p>\n

The farmers will receive by up to 10,000 lei in compensation for a hectare of inundated agricultural land. <\/p>\n

This summer’s floods caused damage totaling US$120 million. 20% of the damage represents damage caused to the infrastructure (roads and access ways), 15% is damage to arable fields and 65% is damage to real estate (houses, villas, shops, summer camps and resorts, recreational areas, sanatoriums, etc.) <\/p>\n
