The 126 km long high pressure gas pipeline Balti – Ungheni will be put in commission next spring. Such a statement was made by the group of experts led by Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Tudor Copaci, who visited the building site on August 20. <\/p>\n

The construction of the main gas pipline started in May 2008. Some 25 kilometers of pipeline have been built this summer – from Balti town to the border between Sangerei and Falesti districts. Another 62 kilometers will be built until this yearend. <\/p>\n

The pipeline will supply natural gas to 250 villages in Sangerei, Telenesti, Falesti, and Ungheni districts. The local authorities have been advised to start working out gasification projects so that the villages are connected to the pipeline immediately after it is put in commission. <\/p>\n

The high pressure gas pipeline Balti – Ungheni is the second by importance in Moldova. The first is the duct Tocuz-Mereni-Cainari, which supplies gas to the districts of Causeni, Anenii Noi and Ialoveni and to the municipality of Chisinau. <\/p>\n
