The Russian gas company Gazprom fixed the price of gas that Moldova will pay in the third quarter of this year at US$253 per 1,000 cubic meters. The announcement was made by the First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon. He said that the highest price can be US$258 per 1,000 cubic meters, depending on the caloric value. <\/p>\n

Dodon also said that the internal tariffs for end-users will be set by ANRE. They will come into force on August 1 and will be valid until the end of the 2008-2009 heating season. The minister also said that immediately after the tariffs for internal consumers are fixed, the Government will raise the nominative compensations for 13 vulnerable groups of people. <\/p>\n

The price of gas is fixed according to the formula stipulated in the contract signed by Moldova and Gazprom until 2011. <\/p>\n

From January 1, 2008, the price of gas supplied to Moldova is raised quarterly, according to the evolution of oil prices in the past nine months. <\/p>\n
