The natural gas price for Moldova for the next three months will be by 17-18% higher and will vary between US$250 and US$253 per 1,000 cubic meters. Such an announcement was made by First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and Trade Igor Dodon. <\/p>\n

Dodon said that the exact price will be announced by the Russian gas company Gazprom within the next two days. He also said that the Moldovan authorities will propose modifying the formula for calculating the gas price for Moldova used at present. According to the minister, the given issue will be discussed at the end of July, when a new round of talks will be held with Gazprom. \"\"<\/p>\n

In the same connection, Dodon said that the recent talks held in Moscow centered on the price of gas that will be applied as from January 1, 2009. He added that the Moldovan authorities insist on maintaining the coefficient of 0.75% of the average European price of gas valid for this year. <\/p>\n

In the first quarter of this year, Moldova purchased Russian gas for US$187.81 per thousand cubic meters, while in the second quarter – for US$213.
