Moldova, the hotel complex Codru, the Chisinau thermal power plants No. 1 and 2 and the Balti thermal power plant Nord were included in the list of state property that will be privatized. The Government Wednesday approved a legislative initiative on this topic put forward by a group of MPs. <\/p>\n

Under the draft law, Air Moldova will be struck off the list of facilities that cannot be privatized because most of the airlines in the European companies are private. In conditions of stiff competition, these companies have to permanently renew the aircraft. The state does not have sufficient financial resources and cannot do this. <\/p>\n

The three thermal power plants will be privatized in order to make Moldova less dependent on foreign electric power, especially Ukrainian. The capacities of the plants can be improved by attracting private investment. The plants do not have the necessary resources, while the use of public money to modernize them will not be approved of by international organizations and the national businesses. <\/p>\n

The MPs consider that the hotel complex Codru must be renovated and modernized, but the state does not have the money needed for this. <\/p>\n
