The global investment bank Morgan Stanley is interested in opening operations in Moldova, Morgan Stanley Director of the Global Capital Market for Europe John Hyman said today at a meeting with Moldovan Premier Zinaida Greceanii. <\/p>\n

"There is a Moldovan oil company among our clients, but we would be interested in the financial-banking sector too, as it shows significant growth trends. We want to invest our resources in Moldova, and the banking sector will be a priority in this respect", John Hyman said. <\/p>\n

Another two areas of interest for the international bank are trade with agricultural assets and the stock exchange market. John Hyman said that the Moldovan stock exchange has great growth prospects and given the quick economic growth in the emerging countries, including Moldova, many investors from the western countries are interested in making investments in the region. <\/p>\n

"We are about to select an adviser on the issue of privatization of the Bank of Economies and we hope that the strategic investor will not only buy the state-owned 56 per cent of shares, but will also retain the social character of this bank", Zinaida Greceanii said. <\/p>\n

Also, Morgan Stanley representatives expressed interest in investing in the development of the Moldovan infrastructure, including through the bank s assets investment fund of about 4 billion dollars.
