The Committee for International Commerce of the United States initiated an investigation regarding the counterfeited cigarettes and contraband in seven states, including Moldova, says Mediafax, quoted by BASA-press. <\/p>\n

The investigation will demonstrate if more agents dealing with Net business sell cigarettes in the United States that break the Philip Morris patent. The American corporation solicited an investigation in March, which can lead to forbidding, in USA, the cigarettes that do not correspond to the patent, according to CNN. <\/p>\n

The agents promise they will deliver well-known cigarettes, but, in reality, they distribute a doubtful quality, according to the company. The inquest includes seven states, among which Moldova is on the first place. <\/p>\n

The cigarettes not only reach the final consumer through contraband. What is new is that they are sold illegally via Net, and the ITC investigation includes Moldovan companies that use mail services to transport the products. <\/p>\n

It is difficult to estimate the total value or the sales volume that could be stopped if ITC decides to block the trade on what the American market calls “the black market of cigarettes”, a spokesman of Philip Morris has said.
