Kazakhstan and Moldova has agreed on partnership in the agrarian sector. A respective protocol was signed on Monday on the basis of the results of the III sitting of the Intergovernmental Commission for Economic Cooperation. <\/p>\n

Chairman of the State Inspection Commission of the Kazakhstan Ministry of Agriculture Seric Suleimenov said at a news conference that his country is in need of seeds of hybrid maize varieties and melons. He said that Kazakh experts had a meeting with Moldovan seed growers and the KazAgroinovatsia concluded with them an agreement on tests for zoning varieties. <\/p>\n

Kazakhstan is also interested in using the experience of Moldova’s pedigree livestock breeding and it will consider the issue of buying a \u0422-70 Moldovan tractor for its farmers. <\/p>\n

Suleimenov highly appreciated the quality of Moldovan wines, which are exported to Kazakhstan at prices lower than French, Chilean and Argentinean. <\/p>\n

“The issue on the cooperation in the energy sector was excluded from the Protocol, as the talks must be conducted in a tripartite format, including Russia”, Moldova’s Deputy Minister of Economy and Trade Serghei Sainciuc said. <\/p>\n

Kazakhstan representatives remarked that the gas and oil products from Kazakhstan pass through pipes in Russia and Ukraine. <\/p>\n

“If we reach an agreement on the government level, there will be no problems”, Suleimenov said. <\/p>\n

The next sitting of the Moldovan-Kazakh Intergovernmental Commission will take place in the second half of 2009 in Astana. The Moldovan exports to Kazakhstan in 2007 constituted USD45.54 million, mainly at the cost of wine products, which exports were twice as much, as in 2006. The imports also increased twice up to USD11.39 million. For January-September 2007 Kazakhstan’s investments in Moldova constituted 2.99 million lei.
