The Air Moldova state company has canceled agreement with the Sibir S7 Airlines Russian company on the joint servicing of the Chisinau-Moscow route. <\/p>\n

As far as Infotag knew from credible sources in Moscow, the agreement was denounced on the Moldovan side’s initiative. The air authorities of two countries and the administrations of the companies refused to unveil the concrete reasons for this and say that the matter is of violating commercial agreements. <\/p>\n

Immediately after the cancellation of the agreement Sibir refused to serve clients, who bought tickets in Air Moldova cashier’s offices and demanded from those, who insisted on the flight, to return tickets and to pay extra. <\/p>\n

In independent observers’ opinion, the scandal was caused by the fact that Sibir declared its intention to organize from November 2007 three independent flights a week to Chisinau in addition to ten joint flights in accordance with the code-share agreement. The Moldovan side cannot agree upon this situation from the economic viewpoint. <\/p>\n

From January 1, 2008 the Air Moldova reduced the air ticket cost for the most popular economic class category by 37% and began to make seven flights a week, whereas Sibir makes only five. Air Moldova representatives assert that the company blocked the possibility of increasing the number of flights on the part of Moscow, though there is a desire and technical possibilities for this. <\/p>\n

According to the State Civil Aviation Administration (GAGA), each side has a possibility to make up to 14 flights, but the GAGA has no right to interfere in relations between commercial partners, though it will facilitate the settlement of this situation and defend, in the first place, the interests of the Moldovan air company. <\/p>\n

The GAGA added that the break of relations between two companies cannot influence relations between the aviation authorities of two countries, as the latter ones are based, in the first place, on inter-governmental agreements. Air Moldova recognizes that the best way to settle this conflict is to start talks. <\/p>\n

NOTE: A Code-share agreement envisages the joint operation of transport means on a certain route.
