The revenues of the National Public Budget for the last year managed by the fiscal bodies amounted to over 12 bn 186.3 mln lei, shows the Activity Report of the State Tax Service (STS) in 2007. <\/p>\n

According to the tax authority, the state budget accumulated tax payments totalling over 4.34 bn lei, up 27.7% compared with 2006, and the administrative-territorial budget accumulated around 2.77 bn lei, up 16.6%. <\/p>\n

The state social insurance budget received tax payments of about 4.29 bn lei or 17.6% more compared with 2006, and the compulsory healthcare insurance fund received 760.2 mln lei, i.e. 50.2% more compared with the previous year. <\/p>\n

The report shows that the execution of the income task to the National Public Budget was ensured despite the embargo imposed by the Russian Federation against importing Moldovan wines, unfavourable climate conditions for agricultural development, as well as the “attitude of a number of taxpayers towards their tax obligations”, after the Law on capital legalization and fiscal amnesty was approved, and the local elections. <\/p>\n

The State Tax Service notes that the increase of revenues is first of all due to the objective growing trend in the national economy, consistent stability of the budgetary and fiscal policy, growing responsibility and ethics of taxpayers, but also the “efforts made by the State Tax Service employees” with a view to improve the fiscal administration procedures and monitor the process of tax collection. <\/p>\n

The report also shows that under the Law no.111 of 27.04.2007 on fiscal amnesty, in exchange of classical documentation controls, the State Tax Service oriented its activity with a view to monitor the activity of economic agents with high risk of fiscal evasion, to prevent and stop fiscal frauds in their incipient stages. To this end, 16,400 operative controls and 11,000 fiscal visits were carried out. After Law no.111 had been adopted, the activity of the tax bodies was reoriented towards inventories of all existent arrears with a view to collect the debts and avoid new arrears.
