The National Energy Regulatory Agency (ANRE) announced that on Friday, January 18 it will increase the natural gas tariffs and the tariffs for the production and provision of electricity and heating. ANRE intends to modify the tariffs in a public sitting, in accordance with the legislation in force. <\/p>\n

A number of economic analysts say that the natural gas tariffs will be increased by about 10%, because as of 1 January 2008 Moldova purchased Russian gas at the price of 191.25 USD per one thousand cubic meters compared with 170 USD per one thousand cubic meter paid in 2007. <\/p>\n

Analysts also say that in 2008 the price paid by Moldova will constitute 75% of the mean European price and will be revised quarterly depending on the oscillations of the international petrol prices. Thus, the price of the gas supplied to Moldova will depend on quotation the petrol and its byproducts, in particular, the diesel oil and crude oil, at the international exchanges. <\/p>\n
