The Eventis Mobile company has today started rendering regular commercial services in the GSM 900\/180 MHz standard in Moldova, having thus become the 4th mobile telephony operator in this republic. <\/p>\n

On this special occasion, the company administration organized a news conference in Chisinau today, and said the Eventis Mobile services are available in Chisinau, Balti, Soroca, and Orhei – an area that is home to approximately 40% of the republic’s population. <\/p>\n

Director General Iurie Cioban said the company’s basic station can link 100 thousand clients, and is expandable up to a million users in the future. Already in 2008, Eventis Mobile services will be available on over 90% of the Moldova territory. <\/p>\n

Brand Manager Olga Burylina said the first 500 subscribers will receive a company gift – 500 minutes of free talks inside the company network. And those who come by next January 28 will be paying only 0.08 lei per a minute of talks inside the Eventis Mobile network. Connection is free. <\/p>\n

The company’s first service center has been opened at 52 Vlaicu Pircalab street in Chisinau, with another two to follow soon – one in the capital city and the other in Balti. The company has concluded roaming agreements with almost 500 mobile telephony operators in 190 countries. <\/p>\n

To-date, the company has invested US$35 million in its business in Moldova. The license costs US$8 million, of which US$4 million was paid last year, with next US$2 million to follow in 2007, and the remaining US$2 – next year. <\/p>\n

Company representatives said at the news conference they had decided to come to Moldova upon seeing the republic’s attractive investment climate. In their words, they paid attention to a transparent and open market here, with clear rules of the game for all participants, and to the presence of prominent operators from France and Finland working here. The Eventis Mobile managers also highlighted “the European spirit” reigning in this republic, and Moldova’s advantageous location on the junction between the CIS and Europe. <\/p>\n

According to the Chairman of the Eventis Mobile Board of Directors, Aydar Aliyev, the company is projecting to build up its investment volume in Moldova to US$100 million, and to cover 95% of the national territory. At the initial stage, the cost connecting each active client will be 15 to 25 dollars. The company hopes to achieve payback within about 5 years. <\/p>\n

Eventis Mobile received a license for rendering GSM services, cable telephony and IP-telephony on December 26, 2008. The first telephone call in the Eventis Mobile network was made on August 27, 2007.
