Independent experts opt for the state to stimulate investments in agriculture and legalize sales of farmland to foreign investors. <\/p>\n

Agribusiness development expert Alexandr Muravschi stated at the National Agribusiness Forum of Moldova (NABF) on Thursday that stimulating investments and orienting state subsidies to support investment projects in agriculture, as well as selling farmland to foreign investors are some of the actions that are likely to redress Moldovan agriculture. <\/p>\n

Muravschi considers that an obstacle for the establishment of an intensive agribusiness is the reduced access of farmers to financial resource. In this context, the expert recommended introducing a loan guarantee system and a risk capital scheme to stimulate innovative processes. <\/p>\n

Present at the event, Premier Vasile Tarlev said that independent experts confirmed at the Forum that orienting subsidies to investments is correct. We analyzed the situation in agriculture and decided not to reduce the amount allotted for subsidies, however it should be used for investments in technologies rather for compensating current losses, the premier said. <\/p>\n

NABF wants to point out the opportunities and challenges of the agricultural sector in Moldova as an engine ensuring economic growth. The forum wants to contribute to establishing a framework for a substantial growth of agricultural production, trade, and investments over the next decade. <\/p>\n
