Moldovan Premier Vasile Tarlev has informed his counterparts from the Southeast European region and representatives of the Austrian business circles on the opportunities of cooperation and the processes launched in the energy fields in Moldova, within a meeting of prime ministers from Southeast Europe, Stability in South East Europe in 21st Century, held in Salzburg, Austria, on 28-29 July, according to the executive’s press service. <\/p>\n

The participants in the meeting tackled the major priorities established by Moldova’s government, among which the participation and benefiting from a project on the construction of a gas pipeline, Nabucco, turning to account the Danube dimension in the context of exploiting the oil terminal from Giurgiulesti, south of Moldova, extraction of oil and gas in southern Moldova, using energy re-generable resources, modernising the thermal electric power stations and building new power stations, carrying out the portfolio of investments in the sector of constructions and infrastructure. <\/p>\n

The participating countries agreed to use more efficiently the regional cooperation mechanisms, such as the South East European Cooperation process, Central European Initiative, Central European Free Trade Agreement and the Regional Cooperation, so to as increase the investments to the states from the region, as a result of consolidating the regional partnership. The participants stressed the major importance to present concrete projects in the energy area, which could be presented both to the European Commission and the international donors within a meeting of the energy ministers from the states of the European Union and the South East Europe, due in Athens next September. <\/p>\n

The event’s economic dimension comprised bilateral meetings of the Moldovan premier with the leadership of Austrian banks and business people.
