Moldova is interested in cooperation with partners from Southeastern Europe, in particular, in the energy sector. Prime Minister Vasile Tarlev, who participated for the first time in the informal summit on stability in the Southeastern Europe of the XXI century last weekend, said this in Salzburg. <\/p>\n

According to the governmental press service, he informed the Premiers of the Southeastern European countries and the representatives of the Austrian business circles of cooperation possibilities and projects, launched in Moldova’s energy sector. <\/p>\n

Tarlev designated the participation in the construction and use of the Nabucco gas pipeline, the development of the Danube line in the connection with the Giurgiulesti oil terminal, the use of renewable energy sources, the production of oil and gas in the south of Moldova, the upgrading of thermal power stations and the construction of new ones, replenishment of investment projects portfolio in the field of construction and infrastructure as Moldova’s priorities. <\/p>\n

The participating countries agreed to use more efficiently such mechanisms of the regional cooperation as the South-East European Cooperation Process (SEECP), the Central European Initiative (CEI), the Central European Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA), the Regional Cooperation Council for increasing investments of the regional partnership. <\/p>\n

The participants underscored a great importance of working out concrete energy projects, which can be submitted both to the European Commission and to international donors in the frame of a meeting of Energy Ministers of the EU countries and the countries of Southeastern Europe in the Athens in September. <\/p>\n

In the course of the summit Tarlev had a bilateral meeting with Federal Chancellor of Austria Alfred Gusenbauer. The sides concentrated on the state and the outlook for the Moldovan-Austrian relations. The Premier told the Chancellor about the consequences of the extraordinary drought of this summer for the Moldovan national economy and asked the Austrian Government for help. <\/p>\n
