The number of Moldovans who left abroad, in the first three months of 2007 through the travel agencies, is three-fold higher the number of foreigners served by the Moldovan travel agencies. <\/p>\n

Data put out by the National Statistics Bureau (BNS) show that in January-March 2007, 10,000 Moldovans, who left abroad on tourism purposes, appealed on the travel agencies’ services, while the number of foreigners who came to Moldova through the agencies does not exceed 3,200 people. <\/p>\n

"The travel agencies obtain high profits from the organizing the trips abroad, than from attracting tourists to Moldova,” the representatives of the National Association of Travel Agencies have said. On the other hand, the state does not win from it – the Moldovans spend more money abroad, and the tourists invest less in Moldova. <\/p>\n

BNS also shows that the number of foreign tourists increased, in the first three months, by 44.6%, a high trend for the last years. But, the number of Moldovans left abroad on tourism increased even more rapidly reaching near 60%. <\/p>\n

The most foreign tourists came to Moldova from Romania (793 tourists in the first three months), turkey (519) and Russia 9460), while the Moldovans preferred to travel to Romania (5,800), Russia (959) and Bulgaria (839). <\/p>\n

Besides the foreign tourists, the travel agencies also rendered their services to over 7,300 Moldovans implied in domestic tourism actions (15.7% less against January-March 2006) <\/p>\n
