Certain categories of budgetary employees will be paid salaries higher by 25 per cent on average starting 1 April 2007. <\/p>\n

The parliament today adopted in two readings a bill providing for the amendment of the law on wage-payment in the budgetary sector. <\/p>\n

The bill sees the implementation of the wage norms for 2007 in three stages. Thus, the employees from the education, culture, sport, art and science sectors will benefit from increased salaries starting next April, except for people holding public offices, civil servants and servicemen. <\/p>\n

Teachers, medical staff, culture, art and sport wage earners will receive money for service length to their salaries starting 1 July 2007. During the third stage, the priority index will increase for the teachers from the pre-school, extra-school and other forms of education. <\/p>\n

At the same time, the salaries for public servants and servicemen will rise beginning with 1 December 2007. <\/p>\n

Deputy Economics and Trade Minister Sergiu Sainciuc today told the parliament’s plenum that, with these steps, salaries for medical and social assistance staff will increase 30 percent on average, salaries for scientific researchers will rise by an average of 22 per cent, and wages for culture and sport staff will soar 40 per cent. <\/p>\n

The salary of the university teachers will increase 50 per cent, the one of the teachers from the pre-school and extra-school education – by 32 per cent, and the wages of the teaching staff from the secondary education will increase 17 per cent. <\/p>\n

The deputy economics and trade minister said that the salary of a lyceum teacher with a 20-year length of service, the 17 wage payment category and the highest didactic degree will rise 317 lei (about 19 euros). <\/p>\n

Sergiu Sainciuc also said the government accumulated additional budgetary means of 338 million lei, which are necessary to cover spending for the bill’s enactment, from the sale of the third mobile telephony licence, the Moldovan National Bank’s balance of profit, additional revenues from the income tax and entrepreneurship activity, the value-added tax etc. <\/p>\n
