The Russian Federation lifted as of 6 March 2007 the restrictions imposed on fruit and vegetable imports from Moldova almost two years ago, stated Anatol Spivacenco, Deputy Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry, for BASA-press on Monday. <\/p>\n

"Trade units may resume fruit, vegetable, sunflower seeds, grapes and tobacco exports in a free regime", added Anatol Spivacenco. Exports can be carried out only through one customs point situated in Briceni, and the exported products are checked in common by Russian and Moldovan customs and phytosanitary experts. <\/p>\n

"As many as 14 TIRs with apples left for the Russian Federation", the Deputy Minister of Agriculture also said. According to him, the trade units are obliged to present their contracts with Russian importers at the customs. <\/p>\n

Spivacenco also specified that product supplies from the last year’s harvest would be operated for a month until April 6. After this date, a new mission of Russian experts will arrive in the Republic of Moldova to prolong the authorizations for this year’s harvest products too. <\/p>\n
